Diabetes is a problem in which your body does not produce insulin the right way. This disease is going to affect millions of people every single year.  This will include children and when it goes uncontrolled, it can be very dangerous and even cause death.  What does this have to do with your skin you may wonder?  The answer is that it will affect the body and diabetes can cause different skin problems too. People will often see a doctor because they   have a skin disorder and that is how they find out they are suffering from diabetes.

If you do have diabetes, there are several things that you can do to protect your skin. Diabetes may be difficult to get through and sometimes it can cause trouble for your body the rest of your life. You do not have to let it have negative effects on your skin and the way that it looks and feels.  Here are some tips that can be used to take care of your skin if you have diabetes.

First, you need to get your illness under control.  You have to see your doctor on a regular basis and when you have diabetes you need to use self-testing supplies daily to make sure that your sugar levels in the blood stream are under control. You will need to change the way that you eat and what you eat.  Get plenty of exercise and it is very important to take all of the medications that your doctor tells you to or use .  Take control  of your illness and you can be sure to reduce the risk of developing skin problems.

It is also important to treat your skin carefully. You need to use very mild products that are made for sensitive and dry skin.  Your skin will be extra sensitive and may  get dry or have acne breakouts. You need to avoid harsh  products like regular body soap.  Treat cuts and bruises immediately.  You should see the doctor right away for anything that can get infected quickly.

Having good skin care is very important for anyone.   It makes no difference if you have diabetes or not.  Cleaning your skin with mild soap and using natural products like shampoos and other hair care items that will not damage your scalp is very important too.  Using moisturizers and toners are going to help your skin.These can help your skin look healthy.  You will be happy no matter what other medical problems you might have.  Your doctor will give you more information on what you should do to stay safe and healthy and how to have the right skin care if you deal with diabetes too.
